Hawkindale Angle Spreadsheets

In this section, Ed Levin, Ken Rower, and Rees Acheson have collaborated to provide Excel and Lotus spreadsheets of Hawkindale angle calculations.

September 2004 Update: Ed Levin has supplied an updated Hawkindale worksheet, which is the version of the sheet that appeared in print in Figure 18 on p. 22 of issue 70 of Timber Framing. It includes a short paragraph of directions for use.

TimberCad Goes Open Source

TimberCad, a front-end program for AutoCad, is now available as a free download from the Guild website here. Its authors, Paul Freeman and Ed Levin, have generously initiated this experiment in community-supported software. If you already own AutoCad and you design, draft, or model timber frames in the electronic universe, give it a try.

Dietrich's Offers Free Software

Dietrich's, a provider of professional 3D-CAD/CAM programs, offers a free download of D-CAD 2D, plus the manual. Support is available in the English Forum here:
